Dear Sentinel,

My family and I recently experienced a fire in our home.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. while everyone in the house was sound asleep, a fire had erupted in our living room causing heavy smoke to spread throughout our house.

Unaware of what was happening outside our bedroom doors, we were abruptly awakened by our burglar alarm system leading us to believe that there was a possible break in. Within seconds, your monitoring operator made a routine follow-up call to alert us of a possible fire in our house. He stayed on the line until I verified the situation and then he quickly called the fire department.

Until his call to alert us, we smelled nothing. We didn't even hear our battery operated smoke detectors at that time.

Within moments we were safely out of the house only to find that had we stayed in the house another five minutes, we would have perished in the fire.

I am writing this letter to express our gratitude for your prompt services on the part of your operator. More important, what really saved our lives was the option you provided us in our contract to have a smoke alarm attached to our burglar alarm system. Had this option not been available to us, we would have slept through everything and would have died either from smoke inhalation or fire.
